€78 million for 18 new environment and raw materials projects under Horizon 2020

The European Commission has awarded grants to 18 new projects in the areas of raw materials, climate action, water and earth observation under its Horizon 2020 programme.
In total, the EU invests more than €78 million into new actions ranging from setting up the Africa-EU Innovation Alliance for Water and Climate to developing a robotic system for exploring flooded mines.
The new projects will involve organisations in 42 different countries including 23 EU Member States.
These projects were selected following the 2015 one-stage call for proposals closed on 21 April 2015 (see below).
New calls for proposals on circular economy, climate services, earth observation, raw materials, nature-based solutions and cultural heritage are currently open. Please check this overview of 2016/2017 call topics.
